Argus Recognized by Media for Performance

TIME
The Wall Street Journal
Forbes.com
Kiplinger's Personal Finance

Argus Research and Argus Research analysts have recently received coverage from four major media organizations: TIME, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance. We believe that this recognition is a testament to the disciplined research process we've developed at Argus Research over the past 72 years.

TIME

In an April 24 TIME magazine article ("Who Do You Trust?" by Daniel Kadlec), Argus Research sat alone atop a list of 10 research firms based on "annualized return on analysts' stock picks for the two years ending April 1." The story utilized data from Investars and listed Argus Research with a 31.9% return. Other top-listed companies in the study logged returns that ranged from 20.2% to 11.5%. The Wall Street Journal

Two Argus Research analysts were recognized as among the best stock pickers in their respective industries in The Wall Street Journal's May 22 "Best on the Street" 2006 survey.

Senior Analyst Suzanne Betts was named the top stock picker for the Airline segment. Using data from Thomson Financial, the Journal established "performance scores based on the estimated total return, including price changes and dividends...." Suzanne was awarded a Street-best score of 268.1 compared to a median Airline industry score of 39.8 (based on a group of 10 analysts). Suzanne joined Argus Research in 2004 and previously worked at a corporate governance research firm.

Argus Research Analyst Erin Smith was also a top performer in the Clothing & Accessories segment. Erin achieved a Journal score of 29.4 compared to an industry median of 12.1 - placing her fourth among 17 analysts.

Forbes.com

Four Argus Research analysts -- Suzanne Betts, Chris Graja, John Staszak and Kevin Tynan -- were recognized in the "Best Brokerage Analysts" survey conducted recently by Forbes.com with data from both StarMine and Thomson Financial. Argus Research analysts won in the "Industry Stock Pickers" category, which ranked the performance of their stock recommendations relative to a selected industry benchmark. In all, Forbes.com reviewed the stock picks and earnings estimates of 3,400 Wall Street analysts.

Senior Analyst Suzanne Betts again earned honors, this time with a "number 1" rating from StarMine among Airline industry stock pickers. Suzanne was listed with a 46.4% "Excess Return" compared to an "Industry Benchmark Excess Return" of 4.7%. StarMine defines "Excess Return" as being "how much an analysts' stock picks outperformed their industry benchmark over the same period."

Analyst Chris Graja earned a "number 2" ranking from StarMine in Multiline Retail. A CFA charterholder, Chris has covered the retail sector for Argus Research since 2004. He is a member of NYSSA and the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia and the co-author of Investing in Small-Cap Stocks. His "Excess Return" in Multiline Retail was listed by StarMine at 9.2% compared to an "Industry Benchmark Excess Return" of 11.5%.

Kiplinger's Personal Finance

Argus Research was ranked ninth out of 20 firms in the April 2006 issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance. The Kiplinger's article was titled "Who Picks the Best Stocks?" and can be found on the web at: http://www.kiplinger.com/personalfinance/
magazine/archives/2006/04/research.html

Kiplinger's also utilized data from Investars, in this case ranking a firm on "the performance of a hypothetical $10,000 portfolio of stocks for which a firm has issued buy and sell recommendations."

Since 1934, Argus Research has been at the forefront of the independent equity research industry. We believe our proprietary six-point research process and our independence combine to give us an edge as we develop our ideas, our forecasts and our investment ratings. Ratings discussed in this article may not be representative of any one person's experience and are not indicative of future performance.
